Vision Statement: Together with love we can inspire, discover and thrive

Biblical Text: The parable of the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37

Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan to paint a picture of what it is to “love your neighbour as yourself”. It is a story of love in action and without limits or prejudice. At the end of the story Jesus tell those listening “Go and do likewise”. The Good Samaritan is held up to us as an example of how to act and we are told to do the same so we can inspire others by our example as we have been inspired.

In the story a man who was travelling is robbed and left on the road almost dead. Two religious leaders later pass by, but according to their rules they couldn’t even approach the man to see if he was alive or dead. A man from Samaria then came along. His people hated this man’s people yet he came near to the man, discovered he was alive, treated his wounds and carried him to an inn. The Samaritan paid the man’s bills so that he could recover in that safe place, grow in strength, and later thrive.

This story tells us how we as a school can show real love to our neighbours and inspire others to do the same. How we can learn and discover without limits, and how our school can be a safe place marked by healing, growth, and ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10) as each individual is given the chance to thrive.
